Utopia can be many things for many people, as all people hold different ideals of the concept of Utopia. I have my own Utopia, a rather small Utopia of books and an eternal night, but my Utopia clashes with other people’s Utopias. My version would be a never-ending summer night, the stars gleaming outside, with a bright full moon. In my Utopia, I wouldn't have any people around me, but just a giant library filled with books of all sorts. In that library, there would exist a floor made of the softest, most comfortable material and have lamps scattered around. Along with that, there would be a never-ending supply of any type of food I felt like eating. My Utopia would not be quite large at all, just a single space, only for me, and nobody else. In my Utopia, fear would exist, of course since fear is one of the major factors that defines us as a human, as well as the rest of the spectrum of human emotion. Sleep would have no jurisdiction whether to influence to make me sleep. The only company I would have is a forest filled with any type of animal imaginable, from dragons and chimeras to squirrels and deer. All would exist in harmony, and their death would be part of the natural order. Immortality would not exist in my Utopia, but I would prefer to remain frozen in the state of possibly a ten year old, maybe slightly older, somewhat like Pinocchio. Of course, I would still age mentally, and my intelligence and maturity would increase over the years, instead of being frozen like my age. In addition to a library, I guess I would prefer a type of movie room, where I could watch anything imaginable. Another addition I would like would be maybe technology, although I wouldn't have much use for it. A stargazing room would be nice, filled with posters of different constellations and planets, with telescopes littering the room. The last addition to my room would be the Dream Room, I suppose. From there I could concoct any type of dream I would want and let myself dream it, from heart racing nightmares to soothing dreams. And, if I did not want to dream a dream made by me, I could simply close my eyes and dream. All my dreams would be written down by a machine, so if I were to forget one, I would be able to read it. And all of this, the large library with its separate rooms, would not have any devastating effect on Nature, it would just exist peacefully, side by side, with it.
Your writing is so descriptive, as I was reading it, I could imagine your utopia in its entirety. I really liked how you include fear in your utopia while most others described their utopias as happiness. Your utopia seems to be a place for solitude and free-flowing thoughts - it sounds all very nice and peaceful.
ReplyDeleteI love how you don't describe how people interact, or just a community, but only a space for you. I love how you know what you want. And, I find it amazing that you not only use things that are apparent, as well as ideas that are mythological. You don't just stick to what people know, but what people WANT to know. This absolutely blew my mind.
ReplyDeleteReading about your utopia made me feel so peaceful- I love it. Your descriptions of everything gave it a very vivid image and I could see everything you were describing. The fact that you mentioned something as innocent and unexpected as Pinocchio made me laugh, but it was a good reference that added some humor.
ReplyDeleteI loved how you explained all of the ideas, gave me very vivid images in my head! What I found most unique about your Utopia is that it seems to be based on fear rather than happiness, which I find interesting.
